Hi Arthur, Holy Fire has been very interesting for me, and I will definitely blog more about it over this year. The big things is that it spontaneously heals old issues and is very purifying. After my Holy Fire attunement, I was at a concert and randomly “heard” inside my head that “a karmic cycle of depression has ended.” I had suffered from depression for probably a decade or more and wondered if this could possibly be true. I had tried all sorts of ways to heal, and kept feeling so frustrated. But this time, it was different. I have not had anywhere near the amount of depression that once kept me feeling so terrible. And I’ve barely just begun practicing with Holy Fire! Pretty cool, to say the least. 🙂

Focus of the Conference :
The focus of the conference is to educate survivors , yoga instructors , spiritual counselors and healers, addiction and psychotherapists , meditation teachers how somatic experiencing such as Yoga helps to heal trauma .
What is the focus of somatic therapy?
Somatic therapy is a holistically oriented therapy which integrates the mental, emotional, spiritual and physical aspects of each of us. It accomplishes this by helping us to become aware of our bodies and the sensations we experience through them.
Yoga, Buddhist , Addiction and Mental Health communities come together to experience survivors stories of healing through Yoga, poetry, music, dance, meditation, and counseling .
Who is Becky Thompson :
Becky Thompson, Ph.D. is a scholar, poet, activist, and yoga teacher whose work focuses on trauma and healing.
She is Professor and Chair of the Sociology Department at Simmons College . She is a senior level yoga teacher (RYT-500) and teaches at conferences, workshops, in college classes, and community centers . She is the author of several books on social justice including Survivors on the Yoga MatShe has received honors and awards from the Rockefeller Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the American Association for University Women, the Ford Foundation, Political Research Associates, Creative Justice Poetry Prize, and the Gustavo’s Myers Award for Outstanding Books on Human Rights.
